A little history about Kretschmar & Smith, Inc.

The business began with Ken Newby Co in the early fifties. In 1960, Norman Kretschmar joined the firm as a bricklayer. During the early seventies Chuck Smith, Vice President of Ken Newby Co., took over and started C.L. Smith Masonry, Inc. Norman soon became an estimator for the new company. In the mid seventies, Jim Smith started working for his father as a tender, then a bricklayer and finally as estimator. With the Retirement of Chuck Smith in the early eighties, Norman and Jim continued the business as Kretschmar & Smith, Inc. Andy Kretschmar started off as a bricklayer and then into the office as an Estimator. Norman retired in 1999, and Andy took over to partner with Jimmy.
